About A Fathers Hope

A Fathers Hope is a nonprofit public benefit corporation registered in California, USA. We provide educational resources, fatherhood programs, and family support guidance for fathers and families in Los Angeles and across the state.

What a California nonprofit public benefit corporation is

California recognizes a specific corporate form for organizations that exist to serve a public purpose rather than to distribute profit. A nonprofit public benefit corporation is registered with the state, operates under a board, and must use its assets for its stated mission. It is not a private company wearing a charitable name; the public benefit purpose is written into how the entity is allowed to operate.

A Fathers Hope is registered in California under that form. Our entity document number is B20250291541. That number identifies the corporation in state records and is the reference to use if you are verifying our status, whether you are a grant reviewer, a partner organization, or a father who simply wants to know who he is talking to.

We help fathers understand the systems already in place, and get to the right door inside them.

We do not replace county agencies or the state child-support system. The mission is narrow on purpose: father involvement, family stability, and practical help that a father can act on this week.

Registered agent and business address

A California nonprofit must maintain a registered agent, the person designated to receive official service of process and state correspondence. Our registered agent is Andrew Croft. Our registered address is 4125 S Leimert Blvd, Unit 1, Los Angeles, CA 90008, USA.

If you need to send documents or verify the organization for a grant or partnership review, that address and the document number above are the details to use. General questions can go to Contact A Fathers Hope.

Our mission

We support fathers and families by connecting them to education, programs, and guidance they can use. That means parent education, co-parenting support, and care coordination, delivered with a clear answer to the question most fathers actually arrive with: what happens next?

Education

Plain-language sessions and written guidance on parenting, custody basics, and how California family systems are organized, so a father walks in knowing what to expect.

Co-parenting support

Help for fathers and partners who are raising a child apart from each other, including how to build a schedule that holds and how to keep communication focused on the child.

Care coordination

We help fathers understand the county and state systems and get to the right door, then prepare for the conversation before they have it. See our programs for what each one covers.

Who we serve

Fathers and father-figures across California, with a focus on Los Angeles. That includes married fathers, separated and divorced fathers, never-married fathers, stepfathers, grandparents raising grandchildren, and partners who are parenting.

It includes fathers returning from incarceration and fathers looking for work. It includes fathers who are on the birth certificate and fathers who are not. If you are raising a child or trying to stay connected to one, the resources on this site are for you.

Married and separated fathers

Whether you live with your child or see them on a schedule, the guidance applies to the parenting you are actually doing.

Never-married fathers

Establishing and protecting your role as a parent does not depend on a marriage record. We explain what does matter.

Stepfathers and grandparents

Raising a child who is not legally yours brings its own questions. You are welcome here and the answers are findable.

Returning and job-seeking fathers

Rebuilding a routine after incarceration or a stretch of unemployment changes how you approach family time. We plan around that.

The people behind the work

A Fathers Hope operates as a small California nonprofit with a registered agent, a board, and a network of program partners and volunteers. Our work leans on the same structure that makes fatherhood programs effective elsewhere in the state: named contacts, fixed program times, and follow-up.

Alameda County Fathers Corps, run through First 5 Alameda County and partnered with county agencies since 2013, advocates for father-friendly services by changing how institutions treat fathers. We take the same approach at our scale, which means answering questions directly rather than routing people through a queue.

In practice that looks like a father emailing or calling and hearing back from a person who knows the program he is asking about. Program times are fixed so families can plan around them. Follow-up happens, and if we are not the right resource for a question, we say so and point somewhere that is.

Our volunteers and program partners come from the communities we serve. Some facilitate peer groups, some staff legal clinics, some work in workforce programs. What they share is a defined role and a clear sense of who they are there for.

How we work with county and state systems

California fatherhood support is split across public health, child support, and community nonprofits. We do not duplicate any of it. We explain what each system handles, and we help fathers prepare for the conversation before they have it.

Fathers and Partners in Parenting

A Sonoma County public-health parenting resource, part of Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health services. It is a useful example of how a county health department supports fathers alongside mothers.

California Child Support Services Empowering Fathers

A state resource that frames father involvement as important to children's lives. When a father's question is really about a child support case, this is the system that answers it, not us.

Community nonprofits

Local organizations running groups, clinics, and workforce programs. Our part is helping a father choose the right one and arrive prepared, which is what our resource directory is for.

Partnerships and community

We work with volunteers, program partners, and community organizations in Los Angeles and beyond. Partners range from peer group facilitators to legal clinics to workforce programs.

Fathers To Founders, a San Francisco nonprofit listed on Idealist, focuses on underserved and reentry fathers through workforce development, financial literacy, and reentry services, and mentions projects such as the Fathers Reconnected Project and the Dad Politics Podcast. That is the kind of work we look for when building referrals: specific services with a defined audience.

If your organization serves fathers, the Get Involved page explains how to start a conversation. Tell us who you serve and what you actually deliver, and we will tell you honestly whether we can refer fathers to you.

Corrections

We publish our program descriptions here so you can check what we claim. If something is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.

What we do not do

Being clear about the edges of our role saves fathers time and keeps expectations honest.

No legal advice

We are not a law firm and we do not represent fathers in court. Legal advice comes from a licensed attorney.

No custody decisions

Custody and parenting time determinations belong to California courts. We help you prepare, not decide.

No payment processing

We do not process child support payments. Those run through the state child-support system.

Not a crisis line

If you or a child is in immediate danger, call 911. For anything urgent, reach emergency services first.

Questions fathers ask us first

Two questions come up more than any others when someone finds us. Here are direct answers.
